See if she is chirping. My female birds do that sometimes, but only when they chirp. If you do hear it is it really rapid chirps? My female nutmeg only does it when she feels threatened. I hear it some other times when I'm not in the bird room but not often.

Both males and females call, but the males do it more often. When we took the male away from the female when the eggs hatched, he cried like crazy, and then when we took the babies out, the mom cried like crazy for three hours! But it gets even better... When we put the male back in, the female would not be quiet. She made that chirping sound making her head bob like I think you were talking about.
