Yes they are male and female. He and my first little female had several babies during her life time. He was a great father even though his name is Rita :O). We wanted Chuck (we thought she was a he until the first egg arrived) to have a girl friend so you can imagine our surprise! This new female has been laying eggs pretty much since I got her but she has no interest in laying on them.
I haven't seen any bleeding so that is good but I will do as Don said. I do feed them high protein foods and add crushed hardboiled eggs with the shell for added calcium and lots of leaf lettuce and such. He wont eat the mealworms, only feeds them to Ruby.
