I remember someone once saying that it wasn't recommended to use cat litter with buttons because if they tried to eat the litter it could swell up in their crop & cause problems, because it's designed to absorb fluid. But with pellets I'm guessing they would probably be too big for a quail to eat. Thought it may be worth mentioning just in case, I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. I thought cat litter seemed like a good idea, less messy than sawdust, but when I heard that I decided not to risk it.
