I am using feline pine for our buttons bedding. Well actually it is pelleted pine bedding for horses but it looks and acts the same as feline pine only cheaper. Anyway, if you use it you will want to raise their water dish off the ground. When the pellets get wet they expand dramatically. If they get in the water and after expanding touch the rest of the bedding it will wick the water dish dry. They end up with no water and a big mess in the cage. We have not had any problems with them eating it.
