Thanks for the interesting info guys and from now on I am always going to wash my earthworms! The whole beetle thing might be why I haven't heard of them in down here, maybe they aren't a beetle thats common in New Zealand.
I'm not a member of ButtonQuailUSA, I quite like this board it's real friendly and social :)
As for moths, when I'm bored, which happens a lot in the school holidays, I go moth hunting with a stick or my bare hands and hold them for my quails until they disappear. They only like them alive which is a bit cruel but what can ya do? They won't be getting moths for a while though, it's only the third day of school and already I have homework in half my subjects!!
