I give mine small chopped romaine and other (organic!) lettuce and they love it. I also give them grated apples, zucchini, and carrots. (I grade raw carrots with the fine grater!) Sometimes they get white rice or mashed potato, cooked frozen veggie mix (carrot pieces, peas, corn...) and of course mashed hardboiled egg. They don't seem to care for broccoli and not for parsley for some reason, which my parakeets love.
I hope that helps. Maybe you should try shredding and grating to finer pieces, and just mix some seed in with it in the beginning....
