I use the tubs like Susan and Amanda. I bought the biggest one I could find, and then I put holes in the sides. I have 12 finger sized holes on each side. I did this by melting the plastic a little then jabbing scissors through. I have them in a pattern that allows the air to circulate through it better. Took me no more than 10 minutes. If you aren't planning on breeding and letting the hen incubate, the holes can be made bigger than finger sized. When I get to the hardware store I will buy some screen so I can cut a hole in the top for even better airflow.

Definitely way better than a tank, and I would prefer it to most wire cages, except the type I had for my rat once, forget what it's called though.
