I would be hesitant to feed any earthworms ... they can carry gape worms, not just on the outside of the earthworm, but internally .. so washing may not help. I rehab wild birds and we're taught not to feed them at all, because you can't be sure how earthworm suppliers for fishing etc obtain them and cannot be sure they are gapeworm free.

I have no idea about the red wrigglers though.
