Hey Ursula,

Cold weather shouldn't be an issue with you then lol An indoor aviary, sounds really cool, I'd love something like that!! I am officially jealous!! My poor fiches & quails all just have to huddle together when it's below freezing outside, some of the finches even snuggle up with the quails in the hay beds on the floor, it's really cute seeing their little faces peeping out from under the quails!!

The idea I had sounds similar to yours, I was thinking of a wooden frame (edges constructed of wooden batons) with fine wire mesh attached for the walls & a padded roof that was maybe hinged so it can be lifted up to change water, food etc & to clean out. That way the Mum & babies can see the other quails & vice versa. That may even reduce bullying when the young quails were big enough to be introduced to the others, because they will already be used to seeing them. Similar things work when introducing new quails, because the others can get accustomed to them without being able to get to them to fight, so when they are released into the main group they aren't complete strangers. Yeah, please do keep us posted!!
