If their nails are getting caught on things, then yes, cut them with a fingernail clipper. Be sure not to cut to short near the toe and blood vessel.

If you want to clip them hastle free, do this. When you hold them to cut them, cover their head with your hand, and they should calm down, then just cut the nails.

Male and female do that pecking thing sometimes when you 'intrude' into their territory. This is normal. If he injures the female, or won't let go, separate them for a little while, and thern try to put them back together again.
