Subject: Update after a year & Question about cage

It has been a VERY long time since I have been on here. I cannot even remember my user name. lol. Since then I gave birth to my son (emergency Csection at 28 weeks). He is doing very well now (almost 11 months old!!!!!) and he loves to watch the button quail move about.

I had some quail right before my son was born, but they did not survive the week my mother in law took care of them. But we will not go there...

I have 4 silvers (I think that is what they were called) right now. I was thinking of moving them into a 75G aquarium. It is one of the longer ones (as opposed to tall). Right now they are in one of those longer rabbit cages with the all plastic bottom. We modified the top so they are fine. I have already made a top for the aquarium.

I was thinking about actually having live plants in there. I do know they will pick at them and that is fine. I just need some ideas. I though oat grass (pet grass) would be fine. I have not seen it as toxic on any site I have looked at. I thought of growing it in those ceramic dishes that go under flower pots. Shallow enough for quail to have fun in it, but deep enough to grow them in (I do this for my cats). I was trying to think of other things I could do with the aquarium for them.

Any help or suggestions would be great.
