Thanks. I had to pull him out once before when their first egg hatched. He kept running back and forth past the hatchling and pecking as he went by. The finches were going to join in too, so I put all the (10)chicks under a lamp in a 10 gal. aquarium. Now they are in a bigger cage and starting to lay eggs too, (but I've been removing the eggs.)
I'll go ahead and remove the male from the hen today.
