Every time I look at this site I leave it feeling incredible frustration and sadness in regards to the number of Vets that are trying to prove their service and/or service related injuries and consequences. I have spent four years trying to locate records verifying my husband served in a special ops unit in Nam, only to discover that records have been destroyed by the Military because the Military did not/does not deem some records like medical ship logs, etc. are necessary to keep.

Anyway, I have come across a few resources that might be of assistance to some of you in your searches.

The Aardvark Research Group in St. Louis, Missouri can review vets full files - when you request copies of your files from the VA you do not always receive everything. You may receive only what the VA (or person responding to your request) deems related to your request. Jason Mavropoulos can be reached at 314-685-2331 or dd214man@yahoo.com in regards to a more thorough record review.

Michael Bracey is in Maryland and can review archived records. He can be reached at 301-219-1918 or micher9@comcast.net.

I hope this helps some of you out and wish you all the best in your search - none of you should have to struggle so hard to receive the benefits you deserve, and recognition for your service.
