Subject: Trying to understand?

Hi,
I'm trying to get some help trying to understand my Dads military records. He enlisted in the Army 1947-1951. He went in as a cook, and was injuried from my understanding. He was supposedly taking to a hospital in japan where he was admitted and remained in hospital for several months. My dad is 78 years old and recently passed away, he had been trying for years to get some benifits thur the VA. For years he got denied due to no medical records of injury in the korean war. But, couple weeks before his passing he was approved for something fnally but my mom doesnt know what exactly. His death messed that up and voided it so they said, re did some papers and sent my mom a letter saying she was only approved for 499.00 a month. Plus remember what I said above, all these years he was denied benifits but and swore that paper work got lost etc. but now she gets that money but with still no med records?.this has stumped me. I have a DD214 discharge but says he wasnt injured in duty. I have tryed talking to VA local office and he just told me to handle it with caution cause she is recieveing something now with out med. records I could mess it up by persueing this. Is that true?
