Subject: On Highway QL-1 1970

I was on highway QL-1 on May 22, 1970 when a large booby trap went off at a site where a culvert was being built. At the time I had been in country for a month. I was about 1000 feet away from the blast. I know there were three people killed that day and some were wounded. The booby trap killed a medic named Sp/4 Robert Marthaler, Jonny Hines and the third I do not remember his name. I cannot remember the men who were wounded. I was operating a five ton dump truck hauling backfill material from the barrow pit to the culvert site. About 15minutes before the boobytrap was set off I was talking to the medic Robert Marthaler who was standing about 300 feet away from the Army Ambulance with the red crosses painted on the sides. Does any one else recall what happened that day. It seemed like the rest of the day was a fog.
