Subject: Al Quick and/or Lake LaDonna 4th of July Veteran Celebrations, Early-Eighties?

Does anyone remember the number of disabled children at Lake LaDonna? My mother recalls many. I would love to hear some more stories an locate the contact info of the former owner. I see it's changed hands.

Does anyone remember a squad leader named Al Quick from Rock Falls--2/14, 25th Inf until the 25th left after Cambodia and then 1/5, 1st Air Cav until Feb 71. He's my dad. I would be incredibly grateful for any information.

Names on the back of photos from basic in Ft. Polk include Joe Dalton, Mel Pickett, Jerry McGee, Dick Powell, Clyde Rennie, Ken Hankinson, and Russ Mathiac.

I had the good fortune to spend the summer of 2008 journeying through Vietnam alone and tracing my father's steps. The Vietnamese people welcomed we like a long-lost uncle. The countryside was the most beautiful place I've ever seen. I'm writing a book about my dad, myself, and other children born with congenital deformities--particularly those the VA has thus-forth refused to acknowledge AO related conditions transmitted paternally, by veteran fathers. I would love to hear from anyone with stories to share. When my father came back, he had a chloracne rash that didn't go away until I was two, five years after his return. I was born with syndactyly, first-degree hypospadias, and mild scoliosis--genetic disorders linked to dioxin.

Stories, names, anecdotes, contacts, leads, shared frustration: I'd be more than grateful for any or all.

I'll be in Dixon over the 4th if anyone wants to meet up.

Cheers,
Ben
