I am having a horrible time finding employment. I was offered a job at a HCA facility, took the drug screen and pre-employment screening, scheduled for orientation and informed a day before that my application would have to be reviewed by Corporate based on previous action on my Louisiana license. Mind you, I have been granted a Florida license and exemption status. The only advice I can offer is what I do in my personal life, realize that I cannot control what others think or feel about my past but I refused to be defined by it. It will mean taking a loss in finances by working for small healthcare companies or nursing homes in the area. I was more hurt than angry but I kept it moving. I have been offered a job as Director of Social Services for a nursing home corporation with the opportunity to work PRN as Nursing House Supervisor on weekends to make up the difference in salary. All I can say is keep your head up and don't let others determine your future. Fight for what you believe you deserve and don't let a "no" keep you from finding the "yes". It is unfortunate that we have accepted our "mistakes", completed programs and still have to wear the scarlet letter of addition!!! Stay encouraged!!!!!!
