Date Posted: Thu, Sep 18 2014, 18:35:38 I got fired 2years ago and was referred to a voluntary recovery program. Had an evil by a doc who said there was no reason I couldn't return to work as long as I was monitored because I had chosen the route of MMT. Said it is one of the best tools for opiate addiction. The recovery program apparently didn't like this answer and sent me to an anti-methadone doc who said I can't work till I am done with methadone or have 6months left of. Taper. From all the other nurses I have talked to they were never sent to anyone else other than the first doc I went to. So needless to say I have jumped through the flaming hoops and am almost done with my taper. Now they are telling me I have to get a new evL from a third doc and/or wait till I am completely done and have 3months after that. I have been clean besides my prescribed med for 18months. I can tell they hate methadone such as the stigma most of the world has but for me it was a lifesaver and changer. My question is how can they keep bouncing me all over and why Rent there strict guidelines or standards of practice like there are in every other aspect in nursing. It seems like no matter what I do I will never get the clearance I need. I could really use some advice. I have 3 mouths to feed and waiting tables doesn't cut it!!
