The program consists of 13 positive statements a woman (or man) can study to build self-esteem and recover from addiction. They have online meetings and message boards on their website. It is a secular organization, and women can use it instead of or in addition to AA. WFS does not dwell on the past; they do not bash men or AA. It's hard to find a live meeting because AA has hijacked the treatment industry. "Millions" helped is a 'fact' not supported by evidence. Anyway, google WFS, LifeRing, SMART, and SOS for more support if AA is not working for you. These are the WFS "New Life" Statements: 1. I have a problem that once had me. 2. Negative thoughts destroy only myself. 3. Happiness is a habit I will develop. 4. Problems bother me only to the degree I permit them to. 5. I am what I think. 6. Life can be ordinary or it can be great. 7. Love can change the course of my world. 8. The fundamental object of life is emotional and spiritual growth. 9. The past is gone forever. 10. All love given returns. 11. Enthusiasm is my daily exercise. 12. I am a competent woman and have much to give life. 13. I am responsible for myself and for my actions. The website is www.womenforsobriety.org. I believe we are beaten down by our addictions plus the stigma on nurses PLUS the sanctions of our state boards. I needed a support program to lift my spirits, my hope, and my self-esteem. WFS website has lots of info so please check it out!
