Well, I attended a Nurse support group a couple of nights ago. It was so great to meet everyone and just vent, share and console each other! From what I gathered from everyone, my state tends to allow us to continue working in most instances with narcotic issues and almost always with etoh issues.

It would be embarrassing to have to quit work, but I surely will need to accumulate some $$ so that should I be forced to leave the field for a while I am able to have a fund set aside to draw from to survive during the interim.

The Indiana contracts that these nurses have are between 6 mos. with the longest being 3 years. If they have a "dirty" ud, or commit other sins ie miss appointments etc. then time is added.

Thank you for responding to me. I really appreciate your advice and experience. I'm so happy to have found all of you and to see how many of you have not lost your sense of humor. I have gleaned much from reading here.

My nerves are super on edge over all this insanity, and it really helps to come online and read from my peers.

Karen
