Date Posted: Wed, Apr 06 2011, 10:24:00 My name is Brian and I have posted on here before. I'm in a really hard situation right now. The good news is I'll be completing the alternative program for chemical dependency in June. You would think I would be excited and I guess I am. The situation is that I'm in the middle of a divorce, and we live currently in NC, and we both want to move and raise the kids closer to family in CA. The question is about my license, I mean as long as I complete this program I shouldn't have any discipline. I have looked at CA's application, and of course I'll have to disclose my back past criminal record of DUI and 2 minor in possession charges, at least those three are what I have been convicted of. I entered the alternative program cause of hydrocodone abuse, and I am clean it's just that life has been rough with the divorce. Well back to the moving, I'm just wondering about applying now to get a ca license. I mean it states on there website under frequently asked questions that there is nothing in their application that makes you disclose you being in a alternative to discipline program. But if I apply now so that I could have a license and a job when I get there, be an ok idea? Does anyone know if NURSYS discloses that info. I did the public search of my license which is free and it said nothing about being in the alternative program. So my question is whether I could apply now so that I could be there this summer with my kids or should I just wait? I know I would miss them bad for awhile, but I don't want to be tied into another program and once again stuck until I complete it. I heard you could work at the VA with any states license.
