Subject: I think beheading the producers and displaying their heads on spikes will suffice, with their entrails festooned around the main gate of whatever studio is responsible.

I thought the movie was one of the best book adaptations I'd ever seen. Some things naturally had to be cut and/or changed, such as the length of time spent in the cave, or some of the more horrifying psychological tricks (the mutt's eyes at the end, the cloying smell of roses and blood) because some things just don't translate well from the page the screen. Overall though, I thought they did a fantastic job.

The disgusting racist complaints I heard about Rue and Cinna made me do a double-take and then go back and find my book. Rue is described as having dark skin and eyes. Cinna is just described as wearing the fashions of the Capitol...i.e....completely ostentatious. So yes, it is completely logical that Rue was played by a black girl. This Panem is built on what was N. America. We have black people here. Duh. Why is this surprising? And why are people ganging up on Lenny Kravitz? His music is well liked, but he can't be in a movie all of a sudden?

So if Jenny had red hair, I don't think I'd mind too much. Messing with physical characteristics I can overlook unless they are major plot points, like in Jamie and Claire's cases (Jamie's size and coloring, Claire's uncontrollable curls). I get ticked off when entire plot points are changed, such as was the case with (SPOILER) My Sister's Keeper and the entire ending was changed. That's when I'd move to put the producers' heads on pikes and display them on the studio gates. :D

[> [> [> Some of those comments were so out of line and bigoted, it made me ashamed of the whole human race! I enjoyed the movie, and it helped that I hadn't read the books in a year, so I literally didn't notice any changes. The one movie that truly ticked me off b/c of a physical characteristic was Scarlett. The actress playing Scarlett had BROWN EYES! Her green eyes are mentioned in the very first paragraph and throughout the novel. It's like changing Claire's whisky colored eyes to BLUE! -- Lady_Jane, 18:47:06 03/31/12 Sat

[> [> [> [> My daughter was mad that Peeta didn't have blue eyes! She was disappointed with the movie as she is a HUGE fan of the books - I have not read them myself. I thought the movie was good, but I could tell that the characterizations were rushed. I did, however, very much enjoy the characters of Cinna and Rue - they were portrayed beautifully, and I really couldn't imagine them any other way now. Shame on some small minded, hard hearted people! -- lori v, 04:55:52 04/01/12 Sun
