“No.” The voice that spoke above me was soft, almost expressionless. Looking up, I could see that the face still matched it, but a quick, hot pulse beat in his neck, and the small, triangular scar above his collar flushed red with heat. “I am called Lord Broch Tuarach for formality’s sake,” the soft Scottish voice above me said. “And beyond the requirements of formality, you will never speak to me again—until you beg for your life at the point of my sword. Then, you may use my name, for it will be the last word you ever speak.”

[> I often wonder about Culloden. Was Jamie's name the last word BJR ever spoke? Did he try to kill Jamie at Culloden? Could he have been trying to save him when he died? Could his falling on Jamie's lap have lessened the bleeding and therefore saved him? Inquiring minds want to know. :) -- CarolSR, 16:33:56 08/27/15 Thu

[> Have to say, I can't get order of events straight. We know Murtaugh attacks BJR, BJR kills him, but M then tells J what it is like to die, but BJR is on J when J comes to. So how did M have time to tell J, but BJR end up on top so to speak? Or was it all dreams mixed up? -- Kel, 17:11:33 08/27/15 Thu

[> [> I wonder the same. I like to picture that in his dying moments Murtagh somehow managed to kill BJR Ashe tried to attack Jamie. It is gratifying to realize even though he ended up laying across Jamie (ewwww and gross) it actually saved Jamie's life by staunching the bleeding. -- Kathy in PA, 04:35:42 08/28/15 Fri

[> [> [> I think that it is all jumbled up in Jamie's dreams, so it's all jumbled up for us too. As time goes on, more seems to come back to Jamie so perhaps we will get more clarity on what happened. -- TheresaB., 06:09:33 08/28/15 Fri

[> [> [> BJR saved Jamie's life twice by lying dead on topi of him. The Red Coats went around the field shooting the wounded Scots in the head. So BJR was a tourniquet and a visual assurance of protection, -- Swarl, 06:44:09 08/28/15 Fri

[> I wonder why Jamie would even allow BJR to speak his name, even if it would be the last thing BJR says. Would this be Jamie's way of offering BJR a way to forgiveness from a higher power? -- LisaW, 06:35:31 08/28/15 Fri
