Subject: QOTD for Thursday June 14th.

The following quote is taken from Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, Chapter 27, The Last Reason. Copyright (c) 1991 by Diana Gabaldon. All rights reserved.

“I hear you married very quickly.”
Did you wed my brother for his land and money?

“Yes it was quick. I didn’t even know Jamie’s true surname until just before the ceremony.”
I didn’t know he was a laird of this place; I can only have married him for himself.”

And so it went through the morning, a light luncheon, and into the hours of the afternoon, as we exchanged small talk, tidbits of information, opinions, small and hesitant jokes, taking each other’s measure.

This passage was too long to take along as a whole, but this exchange really did impress me. It was not an easy place to be at Jenny's parlor, but Claire was the person to go through successfully.
As a weaver, I loved the way earlier in this scene DG links Jamie, Jenny and Ian together in a pattern of fabric and how Claire would be a new thread in the pattern.
