Well, let's say her notion that a man is supposed to rescue her and she'll be happy ever after is what has poisoned her relationships. She was in love with Jamie - or thought she was. Then probably given in marriage to Hugh. Married to Simon - why? we don't know. But he had property and because of that she has Balriggin and two daughters. She probably had more to say about that relationship than with Hugh and maybe expected more than Simon actually had. Again - sounds like my ex-sil (may she rest in peace). IMHO I believe Loghead to simply be incapable of functioning in a mature relationship.
