Subject: Kathleen, I share your opinion of Leggy. I knew a few of these sorts of girls in high school and it's as you said, they grow older but never grow up.
In reply to: KathleenM 's message, "OK, this is the lass I love to hate. It's a low part of my character but I admit it. I know, I know--she's had it rough, been beaten by her husband, lost her men to war, all that. I can feel sympathy, I guess. In these books there are true villians, despicable characters, real historical tyrants and many other examples of the dark side of human nature. I know she isn't that but then . . . there's Laoghaire! Like our perceptions of Frank, mine is colored by knowing too many girls like this one. Spoiled females, the classic "mean" girl in HS who then never really takes responsibility for her own action as she grows older. I say grows older b/c many of them never actually grow up. So, I feel sorry for her but I also love to loathe her. I am happy to do it and I'm not looking for a 10 step program to break my habit either!" on 04:42:51 08/26/09 Wed

[> [> Very well said KathleenM!!! I still don't know exactly when it started, but I knew I disliked L very early in Outlander. Not only does she come across as such a taker, but she seems to have a complete sense that she DESERVES everything she wants!!! I dinna like her at all. -- ElizabethS, 06:41:46 08/26/09 Wed

[> [> [> [> I agree...it seems she never had to take responsibility for her actions. Whether that was making out with the lads or sending Claire to Gellie when she knew what was about to happen. It seems she always got a free pass, maybe that is another reason I have such a problem with her!! -- ElizabethS, 13:35:41 08/26/09 Wed
