This is the place to introduce yourselves to Ladies of Lallybroch.

Before you start posting on any of the other LOL message boards, PLEASE, visit our introduction area in The Parlor. Here's a direct link: THE PARLOR. Many of those questions burning on the tip of your tongue will be answered there, and also at the LOL FAQ, which you can find here: FAQ. If you are new to Message Boards, and don't know how to post, check our Step-by-Step Posting Instructions. (Since we moved from the old boards to Voy.com these instructions still need to be updated. They are basically the same except now you can either SEND your message (it will automatically post) or PREVIEW your message first to proofread it and then hit SEND. Please look for the PREVIEW button.)

And since there are so many of us, and we like to know who is who, unless you have such a unique name you're sure there won't be another :-), please use your last name initial after your name, or choose a hosed nickname, so you won't be confused with another poster.

Long before I read the series I decided to learn Gaedhlic. after...well no wonder.. and so resumed my study in earnest.. just in case someday Jamie falls through the stone circle being mapped out in the land adjacent to my home . Sorry there are no others out there, could use some guidance on word order for my occupation, commercial embroiderer: obair-ghreise, or obair-laimhe. Oh well, maybe someone will pop up out there.

We have had some great literary program series at Sacramento Public Library. The How Austentatious and Full Circle Tolkien series were popular, educational, and fun. Now it's time for How Outlandish!

On select sundays, starting in June and running through fall, we will have scholars and experts present on topics relevant to the Outlander book series: clans & tartans, time travel, stone circles, whisky, military history, and romance fiction, to name a few.

I am seeking a public speaker who would like to take our audience on a photo tour of sites mentioned in the novels.

Hello all! Since I'm sure I'm not the only Nicole on the LoL boards, I'm including Lady Brit in my screen name. I'll try to keep this brief. LOL Been an on and off again lurker for years & posted a few times too but that was loooong ago. I have been a fan of the series for, gosh, I guess 10 yrs or so. I'm on my 3rd reread now (on EITB) and rediscovered the board. I've hosed several friends but I don't think they've stayed as invested in the series as me so it's nice to have this place. I'm in the States-although Sassenach by birth *grin*, married, 2 boys under age 10 (lord help me!), a bookworm (English degree, sometimes reading 3 books at the same time), big fan of British TV (Downton, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sherlock) and love baking. Looking forward to not dropping off the board again and actually having a chance to get to know everyone here.

Hi everybody - this is the first time I've posted although I have visited the site before. I'm a great fan of the Outlander books and quite like the Lord John series as well. I discovered Cross stitch about two years ago, have read all the books (many times already) and can' t wait for the next one. I thought it might be fun to share my obsession with these books with other like minded souls!!

First, my apologies for not welcoming all newbies to the best place on the internet to share the love of all things Jamie and Claire. I have been remiss in my Welcome Board duties (the duties self-imposed, I will admit), so I extend a joyful "Welcome" to all I have not personally greeted. I remember when I first posted (all those many years ago) and how special I felt when my fellow hosers not only accepted me into their fellowship but were genuinely happy to meet me. Me! I had made it my mission to welcome all new hosers since, but, forgive me, I have been remiss. Life got in the way. I will do my best to find a way to get myself back on the Welcome Wagon. So, again, Welcome!

Howdy all! I am a french canadian and have discovered Claire and Jamie many years ago. One book at a time, i've become a fan . At each new book, i have re-started the series at the beggining. Each time, i fall more and more in love and jellous ! Can't wait for the french version of the next book to come out. Would love to join the LOL, because the rest of the people in my life don't want to hear anything more about my Outlander books. I found the books just last year, (2011), and devoured them.I read them all, and passed the obsession on to at least 9 others. In fact a group of 6 traveled to Scotland. They are my go to books when I need that calming escape to a different life. <3

Not new to the boards but it's my first time posting. Thought it was time to introduce myself and say Hello!! I live in the midwest, have a wonderful DH and 3 grown children that have blessed us with 2 grandsons and a step-grandaughter! Hi all! I was a regular poster for many years from about 1999 until 2005/2006. Life went nuts on me for several years and I had to take a hiatus from LoL. I just got back from a wonderful weekend with my fellow hosers at GFM. I got to see some old friends and meet some new ones. I'm happy to be back on the boards. I'm not sure how active I'll be at this point, but I'll be stopping by from time to time. Looking forward to reconnecting with you all!

By the way, I'm using my old screenname, but my last initial is no longer "F". I'm not sure who to ask, but would it be ok if I changed my screenname to reflect the changes in my life? I'm not sure what to change it to at this point, because I resumed my maiden name after my divorce three years ago, but am about to get remarried. Suggestions appreciated :)

I've been gone for awhile, but thought I'd check back. I'm currently re-reading the Outlandish Companion and it has sparked my interest again. Looking forward to Hearts Blood. Been reading Sharon Kay Penman, which I found excellent, Elinor of Aquitain, etc. My DS had me read the Eragon series and my DD talked me into The Hunger Games. Seems I'm never without a book. So now I may have to re-read this series and get ready for Hearts Blood.

Just finished reading all the Outlander books and Lord John books and half way through the Outlandish Companion. I have Scotch Irish ancestors and have always found thier history interesting but now I think I am a highland groupy. I have even started trying to learn Gaelic. Can't wait for the next book it is making crazy having to wait. Got to read all the others back to back and now I am about to bust a gut waiting.

Hello! Read all 7 Outlander novels in 6 weeks, rereading the series now. It is interesting to read all your posts and thoughts, and to know I'm not alone. I'm a descendent of lowlander Scots who settled in the area near the fictional Fraser's Ridge in the late 1600s, not thru Cape Fear but thru Jamestown VA. I was enthralled by the life in this wilderness, and as I look at my sons who are both over six feet three inches, one with a flaming red beard I am enchanted by those ancient Highlanders. It is a pleasure to "meet" you all. I canna wait for book 8. Happy Reading!

SOOOO very glad to find this list! I started Outlander this past September (2012) and I haven't stopped! I'm only on DIA, Took a break to start another series, but I'm flying through this series.

I'm a bit of a history buff (ok, a lotta history buff, lol) and an Amateur geneologist (4+branches of my family are Scottish and almost all the rest Irish.) So, looking forward to "meeting" everyone!

Hi, ladies and laddies! Anybody around who remembers me?
I used to be here some six years ago before my DS1 was born, number 2 is 2 years old by now. (I had never expected it, but they both have got red hair and blue eyes - these are the similarities I like - they are at least twice as stubborn as a Fraser - that's what I could do without...)
I still love "the books" and hope I'll find the time to come here some more.

Hello all, I am so pleased to have found this board. I now know I am not alone in the draw to this storyline. Being very new to DG, I am completely & utterly addicted! I was introduced to DG just a few weeks ago and although I am reading only a few paragraphs at a time on breaks throughout the day (I am now half way through Voyager), I am so drawn to this story I am finding it nearly an interruption when a customer comes in! Upon finishing Outlander, I immediately went out to find the remaining books so I would not have to wait... I have even gone so far as to make special bookmarks for each volume.

It is such a delight to know there are others who are fans as well and in total honesty... I have never been drawn to respond to a series seeking out any means of communicating with others but this appears to be a comforting place & refuge. Im glad I found this!

Hello! I just found this site and I am very pleased to find a community of Outlanders like me! I read Outlander for the first time this summer past and loved it so much I read it again. Then I found The Exile and loved that. So I started Dragonfly in Amber last night and love it already. DG's writing is so elegant and the story so well crafted that I just get lost in it. I do jolt out of the story, though, every time Geillis Duncan enters a scene - 1. how do you pronounce her name and 2. why is she sometimes Geillis and sometimes Geillie? I got the Outlandish Companion, but it doesn't answer these two questions about her name. But I see that she is a recurring character...

Hi there! My name is Adlin Omar and I am from Malaysia. Yes, I am excited to be on this interesting website and I am appalled because I don't see any fans coming from Malaysia on the Lally Portrait - where it lists the number of fans from which country (i think? - forgive me, I'm very new to Lallybroch :) ) ...but then again, that list was last updated in Jan 2003. So.

Are there any Malaysians here?

Aside from that, I'm excited about "The Scottish Prisoner" although I've not started on the Lord John series (lucky me. I have something of DG's to read while awaiting book 8. I'm holding off reading book 7 till it's out - i read there were a lot of unfinished business, not sure this won't kill me). I've been so out of touch with the DG books. I'm determined to change that. At least until after NaNoWriMo is over. **going nuts and it's only the 5th day**

So. I actually found you guys the lovely ladies of Lallybroch while listening to Diana's podcasts for inspiration (for NaNo). And I"m glad I did. :)

Come to that... has Diana stopped broadcasting her podcasts? I really enjoy them. Can anyone tell me where I can get new ones above the 24 episodes?

I found her on Barnes and Noble's meet the writers podcast, but that's it.

I was on the LOL Board many years ago, but moving and a hectic job made postings few and far between. I'm so glad that Judie is still here. Although my husband and I go to Renaissance Faires, I love the clothes of the Eighteenth Century. I don't know about the powdered wigs, but the dresses were beautiful.

Is this a recent board? I was just surfing re: JF, and came up with this site.

I just finished Outlander, and am waiting for the library to get my order for DIA...have read all the Lord John books, but Outlander just took my breath away. Oh how I wish I could find a man like that today! I would LOVE to live in that time,because it was so much more real and untainted; but then again, I like my modern day conveniences and the right to VOTE! Oh well....

My first time here, but won't be my last. I have read the entire series,including the Outlandish Companion, plus some of the Lord John Grey series. I am totally hooked, addicted, and in love. I am so happy to have found a group in which to share my adoration and obsession of DG's writings! I read books 1-4 in '97 and just recently became re-acquainted with DG's books. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Lord John books and novellas! And I have just finished Echo and am having withdrawals of having nothing else of DG's to read! *LOL*

One question, can I put the term "Lady" in front of my name when posting, or is that reserved for forum admins?

Okay, started reading the Outlander series recently, and never expected to fly through the first book as fast as I did. Then I went ahead and picked up DIA and finished it in three days. To be honest, the first 50 pages almost killed me and then by the end my husband had to find me sobbing uncontrollably in 3am and force me to put it down. DIA now finished, I'm staring at Voyager and, quite honestly, I'm scared to death. I have never been this invested in a book or in two characters before in my life. The last book broke my heart and I feel like I have to gain some of my courage back before breaking it again. Possibly. (By the way, I have not read any spoilers concerning Voyager, so I have absolutely no idea what happens). Of course, I will read it, and probably sob some more, but since no one I know has read these books or can sympathize (possibly tell me its all going to be okay?), I wanted to post here for some moral support. Please don't judge me :)

Hello all. I've just been reading all your posts and love how you are all so passionate about these books and Scotland. I've just returned from a few days camping in the Highlands reading Cross Stich or Outlander in US. Loved every minute of it especially since I was sitting amongs the hills, heather and midgies. I've returned and ordered book 2 Dragonfly in Amber from Amazon and it arrived today. Just in time for my next camping trip up north over the West lochs tomorrow.
I live in the low lands and love to travel north visiting old castles, stately homes and lochs. I love period drama and anyting by Jane Austin.
I'm so happy I have found these books, they will keep me company on my travels this summer.

I'll sit on the stool reading til they're done playing. Long line at the bank? Pick up the book. Husband's working late? He knows what I'll be doing! Okay- well- I should be cleaning the house, doing the dishes, or laundry... My 5 year old is keeping track of what book I'm on (just finished Voyager last night) & which comes next (hoping to get my hands on Drums of Autumn tomorrow) ...I guess he sees the back cover & has read the book list for the last few weeks.
I just can't get enough of the characters! I can't imagine where DG is going to go next, but I know I'll enjoy the crazy ride. I should pace myself so I won't have to wait for the installment coming out next year- but I can't slow down! SHEESH! Glad to know I'm not the only one! :)

Hi there! Long time fan! Big time collector of first edition hardcover books in the Outlander series. I can't seem to stop looking for them and buying!! Some have been signed by "herself" (exciting) but some not. Anyone out there know about the first first printing of Outlander (why it has no ISBN # or the number line?) I would like to sell one of mine but a lot of people think because those 2 things are missing, that it isn't a first edition. I don't know who to ask to acquire proof. thx

I have unsuccessfully tried to imagine today's actors as Jamie until yesterday. That is when I went to see the movie, Thor. The actor who plays Thor IS Jamie (minus the red hair) to me. He is Australian, physically in character, and demonstrates some of Jamie's traits. I thought of Jamie as soon as I saw him. Does anyone agree?
