Subject: Reviews on the audiobooks

I have read all of the books and LOVE everything about them. As is everyone else, I am anxiously awaiting for Echo! I miss my characters! How are the audiobooks? Do they give another feeling or dimension than reading the books? I might not be able to drive down the road with some of those scenes! Tell me your opinion on the audiobooks! By the way....I have enjoyed following the quote of the day section....keeps me smiling

• Welcome to Lallybroch! Get the unabridged audiobooks, by Davina Porter! Outlander was my first audiobook ever. I expected different actors for each voice, & sound effects --horses hooves, swords clanking, battle cries, etc. But this is a straight read-aloud only, sans effects, with DP doing all the voices. Once you adjust to that, it's great. Sex scenes are much steamier --she's great at reading them. All of the story is given an added dimension by listening instead of silently reading. • Welcome to Lallybroch, Renee! QOTD is a great way to start the day, and the first place I go to online every morning. Gotta get my Jamie fix! And, yes, do try the unabridged audiobooks. Be careful, however, if you'll be listening on your way to work. I need to leave early, because I find myself driving the long way to work in order to finish listening to the rest of the chapter. • I personally LOVE audiobooks, especially read by persons with English accents. Davina Porter does an excellent job in the unabridged audio series, and I think she does a credible Scottish accent for Jamie. The audiobooks are just the ticket for long solo car trips. If you're unsure, borrow one from the library first, if you're thinking about purchasing, since they're pricy. I loaded the books on my MP3 player, so it's easier to manage in the car.
