I just finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini - He is the author of "The Kite Runner". As with "The Kite Runner" "A Thousand Splendid Suns" takes place in Afghanistan over several decades. It follows the lives of 2 women in Kabul and the changes in gov't leaders. It's a very emotional read and brought me to tears many times. Khaled Hosseini really has a way of drawing the reader in. -- LOL Reading Recommendation Board

- I'm reading A FINE BALANCE by Rohinton Mistry. It takes place in India around 1975-77. I was saying I liked The Kite Runner and my friend told me about A Fine Balance. It's been engrossing and I'm only in about 100 or 150 pages. I keep reading although it is sort of sad, like The Kite Runner. Different, but along a similar vein.
