Subject: I wanted to mention that many themes are general. Long before Herself wrote Outlander, J.K. Broster wrote a trilogy (now known as the Jacobite Trilogy) about an honourable Highlander during the Jacobite uprising and his interactions with an English soldier. I loved these books and recognized the theme when I read Outlander series but I still appreciated Outlander for the story, the differences and the similarities. Deborah Harkness wrote an original story involving relationships between vampires, witches, demons and humans. The fact that she spoke about testosterone poisoning didn't bother me a bit as I have read about it before-not in relation to either of the books. It's simply a coincidence. Much different than authors mentioning characters from other books in their novels.
In reply to: TerriC 's message, "Did any of you who read A Discovery of Witches (which was okay, but overlong and wordy) notice that toward the end, the author mentions "testosterone poisioning"? I was mad for DG's sake, as I was sure that Deborah Harkness "was inspired" by DOA." on 19:53:36 02/14/12 Tue
