Subject: The Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan

I devoured this (pun intended!) in 3 days. It was very well written, a little verbose (had to use my Kindle dictionary quite a bit for Brit terms) but still a fast read. Nice, contemporary narration that makes it really interesting. I have an opinion of the ending, but don't want to give spoilers. I would recommend it.

- Don't let the paranormal genre scare you off, there's very little in it. It's more of a "human" story. There are a couple of fight scenes, but they're very quick and even the author skips most action and says "everything happened so fast" instead of going into great detail, which is fine with me. Initially I thought "this book is so ****** miserable!" Jaundiced, world-weary and just plain sad. I suppose you have to expect the LAST werewolf to be a bit cynical about his long and lonely life. Anyway... after a while the story drew me in and it really was well written with a great turn of phrase. I'm glad I read it but it's not exactly feel good. A bit darker than my usual preference but will suit some. (After all it IS getting rave reviews!) And really, I should have known. It WAS recommended by Nick Cave! I liked the writing and found the story interesting. The book has 3 sections and while the first was slowish and sad, the second part was riveting and the third was good even if it didn't end like I thought it would.
