• Well I broke down and ordered it today. I have a Chapters gift card so it doesn't really 'cost' me anything. What bugs me though is they wanted the jacket price ($30 here) at the store but I only paid $16 online ordering, plus free shipping, and I'll get it in only 2-3 days anyway. I do understand about warehousing, staffing costs, all that but, honestly, why do they seem surprised when the retailer stores aren't doing so well but the online sites are?   • I work in a bookshop in Australia, and all I can say is that it is about the costs of a face to face business. The ppl at the warehouse probably know nothing about books, can't make recommendations or research that book you don't remember the title of, don't have to keep the place clean - you have to pay for these things. Plus the ability to look a book over before you buy it, and the pleasure of being in a bookshop. Sorry to sound grumpy, but my job is being jeopardised by on line shopping, and there will be many who will be sorry when there is no alternative. (NT) -- astrokath, 00:14:52 01/21/11 Fri
    • You don't sound grumpy at all. And for what it's worth I have a great deal of trouble buying on-line when I can buy retail, I do want to support retail and jobs, and I do understand the 'personal touch'. But when there is such a cost difference it's hard to hold on to your ethics. I also believe strongly in buying as local as possible, but when my small hometown grocery store typically charges about 10% more, with way less selection, it's hard to argue against going to the mega-store, especially if I'm that direction anyway.       • I thought it was the last, but saw in the "About the Author" section it mentions that KMM is working on "a new series set in the Fever world", so it's definitley not the last of Fever (sweet!!!). I also saw she's making a graphic novel of Mac Lane. Will be interesting to see where she'll go from here. I felt like she closed this chapter of the story, but opened more quesitons for me. • I got mine on Kindle for 9.99. I have to say though, that I was a little disappointed. I felt there was way too much introspection on the part of Mac and not enough interaction between Mac and Barrons. It was confusing in many places, convoluted and at times contrived.
