Subject: A Small Death in the Great Glen by AD Scott

A murder mystery set in 1956 in the Highlands. The main characters are in a small newspaper office--the new editor from Glasgow, the old set in his ways sub editor, a young cub reporter and the typist/reporter who has her own cross to bear in her marriage. Their lives are shaken up when a wee boy is found dead in the canal.

It took me a bit to get into the author's way of writing which I will describe as being rather Scottish. :) She slowly revealed the characters and there is lots of "Scots" used in the dialogue, but about 1/3 in I couldn't put it down! Her descriptive writing is really quite good.

this is supposed to be a the first in a series, the next is due out next summer and I will definitely be looking for it!
