Author: Lemora
Subject: Elizabeth Von Arnim wrote "The Enchanted April" at Castello Brown in Portofino, Italy, where she stayed as a guest in 1922. It was built for fortified defense of the coast in 1557 and passed through private hands until the last owner gave it to Italy as a museum, in 1961, which it has been ever since. The movie was filmed there, where the novel was actually written. Also, it is haunted. The actors and crew had some eerie experiences while filming there. I never knew this.
In reply to: Lemora 's message, "Elizabeth Von Arnim lived a fascinating life. She was born Elizabeth Beauchamp and married an Austrian. The castle in "Enchanted April" is based on a real place she visited, and maybe you can find out that way, on the internet." on 21:37:33 08/23/10 Mon
