Subject: I'm interested to hear all your comments, because as a Brit who has read the book, I am really disappointed that the actors aren't British and it seems that the plot has been 'messed about' with. I think the only film adaptation of a book I really liked was LOTR which was excellent.

  • I'm seeing it tonight. My expectations aren't set very high - frankly, I didn't think the book was all that great. But I'm always willing for some trashy, Tudors camp. (NT) -- Lynn H., 14:42:37 03/14/08 Fri

  • I'm back - I saw it. And it was okay. I actually liked the tweaks they made to the story (for the most part), but, as I stated above, I'm not a huge fan of the book... Some parts of the movie were kind of laughable though - such as Mary's "disappearing" husband. (I wouldn't have minded seeing more of the always-excellent Benedict Cumberbatch.) And I think I would have screamed had they shot any more scenes of horse riding, clouds passing by over manor houses, and/or conversations shot through wooden screens or doorways. Katherine of Aragon was awesome, though. I almost wished the story had been told from her perspective. She commanded the few short scenes she was in. (NT) -- Lynn H., 20:24:14 03/14/08 Fri
