You are definitely not alone. Her brilliance as a writer does shine through several times in the book. However, if the first book was like this I don't think it would have gained a readership, nor would I have finished it. The Outlander magic was lost in this book as a whole. I enjoyed ECHO thoroughly, but I think, of all the books in the series, I would consider it to have less ability to be a stand alone than the others. It feels very much like a penultimate novel...bridging to the story's conclusion. (NT) -- Tess, 06:20:03 12/10/09 Thu
