Subject: I read this when it first came out and loved it for the writing and the point-of-view, oh, and the justice in the end. (Loved how she tied it all up!) I tried to get others to read it, but, no one could get past the fact that the narrator was brutally murdered. (I don't have kids and most of my friends so and the idea that a child being murdered as the theme of the book was just too much of a turn-off for them, despitre my reassurances.) My book club chose this for its next discussion.
In reply to: Becccy 's message, "The Lonely Bones by Alice Sebold. I didn't like the look of the trailer for the film but happened to see the book in my local library & thought I'd give it a read anyway - and I was very glad I did. Its a beautiful book, and even though the subject matter is so sad and brutal, the story itself is luminous and tender. Do read it..." on 08:56:59 02/25/10 Thu
