Subject: The "Lucia" series by E. F. Benson and the diaries of James Lees Milne

There were six Lucia books, written in the 1920's and '30's. They are about life in an English village in Sussex. ( I've read a vampire story by E. F. Benson, but not these.) They've been done for TV by Masterpiece theatre, but I don't think they've been released on U.S. TV. James Lees Milne is responsible, more than anyone, for the preservation of the great country houses of England. His first volume is "Ancestral Voices". An unloved child, indifferent student, and massively insecure, shy boy, he found his niche in historic preservation as a middle aged man. He knew everyone and anyone during the inter-war period of the 20th century. I'm about to start reading these. Has anyone else read the Benson books or the Lees-Milne diaries?
