The Exile is about when Jamie marrys Claire through Murtags perspective, so I dont think any of the storylines from Echo will be answered. I dont know why they put Jamie's side of the story on the cover, prolly to sell books. Did Murtagh overhear the conversation between Dougal and Jamie when he ordered him to wed Claire? Had Murtagh considered volunteering for the assignment? How precarious is his position at Leoch as Jamie's man, not a MacKenzie even though he is related to Mrs Fitz? Did he know about Dougal and Geillis? Did he know Dougal fathered Hamish? I also want answers to all the above. But.... what fries my brain the most is, what did the Druids, led by Mrs. Graham, know about what happened to Claire? I'd like to be privy to their private conversations and any debate about whether or not to level with Frank. And why did they never come forth, after Claire's return, to support her story and attest to her sanity? Did they take an oath never to reveal secrets about the workings of the stone circle? Interesting side that I hadn't thought of Lemora. I wonder if the ladies knew, or if they were just doing something they'd been taught without really knowing why. I canna think of anything I do, except maybe regular church, that I do so faithfully and so blindly but I think maybe more devout followers than me might behave the same. I'm rambling a bit here, hope my point gets through (about doing the circle, and believeing absolutely in the circle, but not knowing why or what the circle is). Sorry, I realize that you weren't looking for an opinion on the cover, it just really shocked me is all! I came here because I didn't know what the quiz would be about, not realizing that the new book would be titled The Exile. But, I do like the idea of finding out whether Mrs. Graham et al knew what happened to Claire, or at least whether she would be a time traveller. I want to know when Dougal telegraphed his intentions to Jamie, vis a vis Claire. We have inferred, but never have had clarified, Dougal and Colum's different plans for Jamie's future. In the pasture, early on, J says to Auld Alec: "And Dougal's promised me to -- ah, but you'll not know about that." We never did get that explained or completed. Promised him to Claire? Who else, then? Awhile ago, Diana told us on Compuserve that Murtagh was dispatched to Lallybroch to get Jamie's full Highland gear that he wore to his wedding. Also, he would have had to pre-order the ring from the silversmith at Leoch. After the fight in the bar, where Dougal exposed J's back while fundraising for the Jacobite Cause, C asks J: "And you'll let him use you that way?" J answers, poker-faced, "Aye. For now." Dougal was running the show, at this point, and Something Big had been promised to Jamie to get his acquiescence to everything. I hope we'll be privy to some of that. -- Lemora, 10:47:21 07/15/10 Thu

OOkaay I read somewhere in Outlander that Jamie borrowed his marriage clothes?? maybe I dreamt that part. But also, he told Claire in the Bridal Chamber that there was no more than honesty between them now and that was all he asked of her. So how is it to this day he has not told her of the pre marriage talks with himself, Dougal, Murtagh, Colum and who knows who else? If we are to believe that his talk with Auld Alex and Colum's promise even slightly alluded to marrying Claire, then there is lots that we don't know, ken?
