[> Dougal, definitely, I want to see what he looks like 'coz I always pictured him so different from the way he's depicted in Exile. I always saw those men as gruff and crusty, a little hefty, not pretty at all (except in a Highlander sort of way). -- JudyL, 10:07:54 10/15/10 Fri

[> #2 Murtagh. This was difficult. I wanted to pick Ian Murray, Sr., but Murtagh was the more entertaining and proactive in the story. Only, I'm afraid that with Ian dead, this will forever turn Jenny into an even more warped, bitter old woman than she already is, who --jealous of J & C's happiness-- will create trouble. This happened with my favorite aunt, in spades. -- Lemora, 13:20:55 10/15/10 Fri

[> October Poll -- Lori S, 16:00:00 10/15/10 Fri

My vote before I even saw the choices was Murtagh. I keep hoping that somehow he can come back. He was so fun and so good for Jamie. Although I do miss Ian Sr. dearly, I think he needed to die to help progress the plot with Jenny. I do hope she doesn't turn into a witch to Claire even more though.

[> Yes, I will have to go with Murtagh too. A couple others run a close 2nd, but I think Jamie's could have used Murtagh a few times in North Carolina. -- Gina-C, 19:43:09 10/15/10 Fri

[> Lordy, what a tough question! You ROCK with this, Mistresses Pollstketeers. My first reaction was Murtagh. But, really, I would personally love to know what Frank knew and when he knew it. Separate from his 'Frank' personality--he knew more than we'll probably ever know he knew. Don't you think? -- Gayle, 19:48:50 10/15/10 Fri

[> [> Jayn, I've been checking here to see the status of opinions and I, too, am surprised that there are so many Ian Sr. votes. While Ian's death was sad, he also lived a full life whereas other characters - Frank, Murtagh, Dougal - were lost to us too soon as to fully enjoy them. What I wouldn't give to experience more of Frank, of Murtagh in America, of Dougal, that black-hearted bastard, and his conniving!!! -- Merrymags, 09:53:10 10/16/10 Sat

[> 2. Murtagh! Ian had his time to settle things and his passing was a new beginning for Lallybroch. Murtagh was taken all too sudden. -- Helka, 10:18:56 10/16/10 Sat

[> 9. Brian. I was going to say Murtagh too but then I thought I would love to see Brian back. I would love to find out more about his relationship with Colum and Dougal and to find out all about Ellen too and how they met and where were that when they first ran away together. -- LisaW, 12:22:13 10/16/10 Sat

[> To actually bring back from the dead - either Dougal or Colum.... But to have more about their original lives in the story Frank or Geneva. -- Aine, 11:06:03 10/19/10 Tue

I wouldn't really want to bring Frank or Geneva back from the dead, because it would just get icky/awkward for those who loved them. On the other hand, more revealing details about parts of their lives that we haven't seen yet would be very interesting. I would rather know more about Frank and his relationship with Brianna in her early life, then bring him back to life during her adult-hood. Same with Geneva, though she died so young it seems like there wouldn't be that much to tell. I think poor William does not need the kind of upheaval that a resurrected mother would bring. Answers perhaps, but the guy needs a break!

Besides, ressurection always has downsides to the person being brought back, and I wouldn't want to do that to Geneva or Frank.

[> Murtagh!!! He was one of my very favorite characters from the first two books, it broke my heart to learn in Voyager that he had passed away at Culloden. I've missed him so often in the other books and found myself constantly imagining what he might have said or done in some of the situations we have seen Jaime and Claire get into, or what he would think of Bree and Roger! I loved Ian Sr. dearly and he will be sorely missed but I feel like we got so much more time with him then with Murtagh. I balled my eyes out when I first visited the Fraser stone at Culloden, I remember a quote from herself about her dear husband being there the first time and being upset thinking about Murtagh and how he felt silly for mourning someone who never truly existed and she told him something like "then cry for the ones who really were/are here" or along those lines. I felt like that, I was crying for Murtagh, but also for all those poor men and the tragedy they suffered. -- Cait, 09:54:42 10/20/10 Wed

[> I thought I'd be the odd ball one who'd pick Murtagh, but I guess I'm in good company in thinking I'd like to have Murtagh back! He was so good to and for Jamie, besides his parents, I thought Murtagh of all people deserved to see how Jamie turned out. I understand his purpose was to get him through the rough patch of his youth and Culloden, but Murtagh deserved to see Jamie as a grown man. And as much as I love John Grey, he doesn't compare to Murtagh as a benefactor and guardian angel to Jamie, the relationship is so different. Poor Murtagh..... -- Missa, 09:44:26 10/24/10 Sun

[> My answer is 3 purely out of love. But I'd really like to wake Frank up just tell him all about J&C 's life together and how Bree knows the truth, loves her dad and had a great relationship with him..... just to mess with Frank's head a little! -- AmyGirl, 16:34:28 10/27/10 Wed
