Subject: Thanks DawnW for mentioning the "over-arching theme of how precious and fleeting our time is with the people we love". This is one theme in The Books which has profoundly influenced my life…just reminding me to be more alive, more immediate. I believe they have the power to exert this influence because they are themselves somehow alive and immediate to me.
In reply to: DawnW. 's message, "MODS, I think you are spot-on with your invitation for we addicts to reflect on as to what our reactions to The Books can tell us about ourselves. I first read Outlander 10 years ago and never forgot it. Last winter, often closed in by weather and failed electrical lines, I decided to re-read it. I went out and bought all the other books before I got to the end and continued to read with all the yet un-read books beside me, so I could savor all those pages to come. About half way through ABOSSA I began to panic at the thought of no more Jamie and Claire. I finally decided to just start at the beginning again. I wanted to discuss the books so badly and had no one to talk to. My DH thought I was nuts! I read the L.J. books and the Companion before finding this Board, which was a relief. Just knowing others were as obsessive as I had become was icing on the (oat) cake! >>>" on 08:49:36 09/01/09 Tue
