Does anyone understand Malva? Tom Christie tells Claire that Malva used the infected mucus and blood she collected from the "sin-eater" after she came upon him dying (then dead) in his cabin. She tried to kill both her father and Claire. According to Roger's calculations all of this happened well before Malva would even have been pregnant. Contrast this Malva with the one in Allan Chrisite's confession in chapter 122. He tells Claire that he forced Malva to accuse Jamie of making her pregnant and then when she tells her brother that she loves Claire and can no longer deceive her, Allan kills her. Did I miss a paragraph or line that would have reconciled Malva's character? And finally, how does Malva know about the scar on Jamies bum?
