Subject: Actually, I researched this years ago, because I've been to Melk in Austria and never heard of an Adso. I came to the conclusion that DG just used this name as an hommage to Umberto Eco and his book "The name of the rose". So, if you're very strict, the correct answer to this question would probably be Umberto Eco. *vbg* (you girls are good, I've forgotten nearly all of these things!)
