Subject: It is always cold in Scotland

Hi,
How exciting to take such a huge trip. It is awkward in that in the Summer it is hot in Rome, Spain, Greece etc etc but it can be fairly nice in Scotland. Scotland is very much 'you buys your ticket and takes your chances' May I recommend the first two weeks in September as you miss the School holiday makers. The tourist facitlites here open on Easter and close the 1st of November. At least that is true of almost all of the Castles with some exceptions. Culloden, Fort George, Clava Cairns are open all year. Just remember it will always be cooler in Scotland than anywhere else you are planning on visiting in the south. We had a nice summer and it got the warmest I have ever experienced up here one day and the temperature was a whopping 80 degrees - 23c . Just bring lots of layers so that you can take them off and put them on when you need.
By Panama standards it is never warm in Scotland!!!!

  • I would stay out of Scotland anytime between November and March, simply because the days are so SHORT you won't get to see/do anything. The wind is bitter and cold. April should be much better, and of course warmer on down the summer. (NT) -- Green Dragon, 12:09:46 01/17/06 Tue
