When my brother was going through the police academy, he and his classmates were given the chance to be Tased to see what it was like. According to him (and he has a rather high tolerance for pain) just being shocked on the arm really isn't _that_ bad. It was when they shot him with the darts in his calves and *then* Tased him in the arm that the agony really set in as the electricity coursed throughout his body between the Taser and the darts. Now, my brother was in the top 5 officers that graduated with that class in both acedemics and physical fitness/weapons use and knowledge and he has a degree in criminal justice, so he's not a complete idiot. But he actually volunteered for that little experiment. Why? Because my uncle, also a cop, wouldn't do it. So my brother decided to prove he was more the "tough man" in the family.

Now, my uncle has been a cop for...I don't know, 20 years, give or take. He told my brother, "They didn't shoot me before they gave me a gun, they're not going to Tase me before they give me a Taser."

At least one male in this family has some common sense.
