Subject: I also grew up in a predominately white, rural area. My then 4 year old sister and I were in the toy aisle of Walmart around holiday time when she says in her loud 4-year old voice "Where are all the white Barbie dolls?". My mom quickly moved us out of there and to the checkout.
In reply to: jayn 's message, "My mother loves to tell the story of when I was very young and saw my first person of colour in a grocery store (I lived in a very predominately white, rural area). I pointed at the man and refused to stop until I had everyone's attention at which point said 'look mommy, black eyes'. The honesty of youth." on 13:42:12 11/06/10 Sat
