Subject: Interview with a character>>>>

Ok... I think I mentioned below I started interviewing my characters. Has anyone else ever done this? I'm finding it very helpful in what they know - how they see/perceive. It's fun. Try it out.

I started Emma's interview but haven't had time to go back. If anyone else has any questions to ask Emma -- fire away. She's quiet on certain topics but not on her abilities and knowledge. She will evolve as the story goes on. In the beginning of the story though she's scared. Interviews,it seems, she's pretty good about answering.

Oh yeah, don't be afraid to ask Seren or James questions neither. :-)

>Interview with Emma Brennan

Q. Can you tell me more about your abilities? Clairvoyancy is the ability to speak/see the dead, while the other two are reading minds and seeing the future, right?

A. Yes, sort of.

Q. Can you elaborate, I want to understand.

A. Well, the precog ability comes to me as visions or in dreams. Theyre snippets of the future. Its like watching a short commercial but real fast and sometimes they make sense and other timesI dunno. Telepathswell, er, ummm I can do it but I dont like too. I can hear strong thoughts from people but I feel like its an invasion of privacy and well, sometimes people are just mean with their thoughts. Trust me, sometimes its better not knowing what people think. I know I can project too. So like if I wanted someone to call me, I think about the person and then they call. I can do it with the spirits. They come to me and I can talk to them. They seem to understand me better than most.

Q. So you converse with the dead?

A. They arent dead. Were all spirits, some better than others.

Q. What do you mean?

A. We are all spirits living in a physical shell. A spirit is an energy entity. There are many different spirits in many phases of being. Beyond here is a place, I know it exists, Ive seen it in my visions. I call it true home - the place where all energy manifests from. Its a wonderful place.

Q. So is that where we come from?

A. Mmm, well your true spirit does. Everyone starts as one bright energy entity then it splits into two spirits. Not like, one good or one bad spirit, but.hmmm how do I explain, like a ying and yang, if you will. The twins should equalize each other in traits. The twins are separated and choose paths, because, well every spirit has a choice. Some stay in the ether as helpers and the others take a shell because they think they can make a difference; to learn and grow with knowledge. Sometimes they both come here and it takes many lifetimes to find one another. Some twins never find each other. Its sad.

Q. You say spirit, isnt that the same thing as the soul?

A. No. You and me, we are spirits. When we became human and took on our shell we were given a soul, our twin if they chose the human path was also given a soul. Youre given this because once you take on the shell you dont remember. The soul is your marker, a piece of your twin energy that the spirit takes with them when they become human. Its the map back to true home and the key to the twins one true spirit. Once you choose to have a physical shell you will keep coming back until youve learned what you need to. Everything is written in the soul. It is nothing more than the journal of the twin spirits and their quest to find their way back to each other through knowledge and enlightenment. The twins souls are their beacons to each other, once they find each other, a soul union takes place, they start to become one again. Once found they will not want to be separated again.

Q. Ahhhso youre saying our souls are a book of our many lives, that we reincarnate, and somewhere out there is another half of ourselves?

A. Yeahsome people believe some dont. Because this world is crazy and so much evil is present its becoming harder for the spirits to remember why they came. They are choosing the easy path, the one the wrong-ones are presenting. This makes it harder for them to remember their way and why they were here. They keep taking the wrong paths and soon they are victims to the wrong-ones and become a lost soul.

Q. Can they be saved these lost souls?

A. Mmmhmmyeah, sure, if they want to be. Spirits in the ether do try to help them while they are here. Try to steer them back to the right path. Humans call them angels but their not angels. Wellsometimes the angels come but only when the spirits cant help.

Q. What is an angel then?

A. Angels are twin spirits that have learned, had a soul union and choose not to take on another shell. They go back to the source and true home becoming whole once again as an energy entityan angel.

Q. When did you first realise that you had these special powers? Or, if you've known since early childhood, when did you realise that other people didn't have these powers?

Q. Do your precognitions always come true? Or can the future be changed?

Q. How do you know when a soul union takes place? Is it like falling in love, or something different?

Hi Fi,

Emma and Seren came out to answer for you. If you have anything else - I'm sure they would come back. :-) Thank you for the questions - they were good ones.

>Q. When did you first realise that you had these
>special powers? Or, if you've known since early
>childhood, when did you realise that other people
>didn't have these powers?

When I was very young. My momma said, I used to babble as a baby to the air and when I learned to speak she would find me talking to no one, but I was actually talking to the spirits. I think I was about 3 or 4 my momma wanted to know who I was talking to and I said the people and she said what people. So I gave her the names of the spirits. I asked my momma, don't you see them. From the expression on her face I realized she didn't. When I went to kindergarten - I realized truly I was the only one who could see and talk to them. I used to wake up screaming in the night my mom said but I couldn't remember from what. When I was about 5 I had a vision of a little girl in our area being taken away by a man and brought to the woods and he hurt her very bad in my dream. The spirits told me she was "catched already" which meant her spirit moved on. I told my momma and dad about the girl what she looked like what she had on. I even drew them a picture of the man and where she was and that it was someone she knew. Turns out a little girl went missing 2 days later. My parents brought me to the police station along with my pictures and I told them what I saw. They found the girl the very next day exactly where I told them and she had been "catched". I didn't like what happened afterwards. It was scary. Some people wanted to know all about me, some hated me and thought my parents were in on the whole kidnap. It wasn't pretty. I closed myself down to telling anyone anything after that. We moved a few months later to escape the stares and for awhile my mom home-schooled me.

Momma was the only one I ever shared info with. She understood and wasn't afraid of me. She helped me. I miss momma terribly. So many visions now and only she understood.
>
>Q. Do your precognitions always come true? Or can the
>future be changed?

Usually they do. If its something global or immediate yes it usually does. Can it be changed...yes and no. I saw my momma get hit by the car in my vision - I was even given the date. I tried to intervene and keep her in that day but she chose to go outside to get the mail probably figuring she'd be safe on the sidewalk. Now, she could've stayed inside all day and night. Danger would've passed. But, you have to remember when its time to go home .. you're called and no amount of intervening can stop it. If it was momma's time to go home it would've happened sooner or later maybe not that car but something. Now I had a vision of the tsunami that killed all those poor innocent people but the vision came the day before. Who would listen to me, how could all those lives be saved and were they meant to be? Now, if I told you I had a vision that your car was going to break down in 3 weeks, the engine was going to catch on fire, because of some wiring. What would you do now? It's all about choices. Would you take it to mechanic and have it looked at? Would you not drive it? Would you sell it? Would you believe me at all? What a person does with the information given can change the future outcome? Unfortunately, when I've tried to help people they don't listen.
>

>Q. How do you know when a soul union takes place? Is
>it like falling in love, or something different?

Seren's going to answer this one if that's ok.

Hi Fi. A soul union takes place when the two spirits of the one whole find each other. Usually it takes place in the ether, but it does happen here and its a beautiful thing. It's an instant connection to one another. If they are in a crowded room they will seek each other out. They want to be with each other constantly. There's a frenetic excitement with each other when they meet, they don't want to leave the other person. They can talk for hours about anything and nothing, or sit quietly holding hands and feel at peace. They bring out in each other almost instaneously peace within the other. Yes, they may argue down the road after they've been with each other awhile, but they will work it out quickly as they can't stay mad at each other. They each bring out the best parts of each other and anything bad they might've been carrying slowly goes away.

You could liken it to how most twins interact. They finish each other sentences, they usually are inseperable, have a pyschic link to each other - one knows what the other wants, they know instinctively when one is sad or happy. It's a link only they share. Twin spirits are no different. And, before you ask. The answer is NO. Twins that are born are not twin souls. Whether they are identical or fraternal, multiples or not. These are spirits that made a choice to go together for this particular incarnation - within the same life paths - to learn something and over different incarnation may cross paths again. It's why sometimes humans meet someone and connect, or you may not like someone instantly because your soul memory remembers.

Once an energy entity splits a soul imprint is forged they make choices then separate. Sometimes they find each other again, sometimes they don't. But, when they do...

A soul union is the purest form of love. Beautiful and unconditional. To the twin spirits it's like coming home. If the human eye could see their aura & the energy surrounding them...it's an amazing and wondrous sight to behold.

Hi Emma and Seren,
Thanks for coming out to answer my questions.

>I think I was about
>3 or 4 my momma wanted to know who I was talking to
>and I said the people and she said what people.

Did your Momma initially think that you just had imaginary friends, like many small children? Do you think that, in some cases, "imaginary friends" are actually spirits talking to small children? And that most kids lose this ability when the grow older? (Just a thought that occured to me.)

>Now I had a vision of the tsunami that
>killed all those poor innocent people but the vision
>came the day before. Who would listen to me, how
>could all those lives be saved and were they meant to
>be?

That sounds really tragic. Like poor Cassandra of Troy, knowing the future but not being believed.

>Now, if I told you I had a vision that your car
>was going to break down in 3 weeks, the engine was
>going to catch on fire, because of some wiring. What
>would you do now?

I'd probably be skeptical, but take it to a mechanic just in case!

Hope you don't mind me being so nosy. It's a lot of fun, finding out what other people's characters think.

I think momma did believe that at first because that's what the doctor's told her. Until a person momma knew very well was catched and she came to me to give momma a message. Then momma knew for sure. Yes, I believe some children are born with some unique gifts like me but lose them either through age or fear.

Sometimes its very hard to know and not help. If people didn't get weirded out or want to use me for selfish gain I could put my gifts to very good use and help mankind. Right now what I see of the future is very sad. People need to be kinder to each other and stop destroying the planet. People have choices but aren't making the right ones. If they don't change...well...I have to get Seren back home. He can make a difference in the spirits that have yet to come... I hope.

Would you truly? Or, are you just saying that. I've had people tell me that before and then they forget, then it happens. But, if you did take it to the mechanic then you are making a choice in changing the future. That's not to say it couldn't still happen - sometimes things are just meant to happen even with foresight but it may not be as bad. Does that make sense?

No, I don't mind at all. Anytime. I enjoy telling people about these gifts. I think if more people learned, understood and accepted what I am then I wouldn't feel like I freak most of the time.

[> Anyone got questions for Richard?>>>> -- Fi, 07:07:27 10/06/10 Wed

I enjoyed interviewing Emma and Seren, and I thought it might be fun to do the same with other people's characters. So I'd like to open the floor.

Richard Joyce is the main character in my historical novel. You can read about him under the Character Assessment assignment, and he's also appeared in some of the extracts I've posted. So, does anyone have any questions for him?

Warning: he can be a bit vague sometimes. Or flippant, depending on his mood. Or politically incorrect.

Or maybe you'd like to interview one of my other characters? Rose? Kate? Mrs. Joyce?

Would anyone like me (or the other writers) to interview their characters? I know a few I'd like to talk to :)

Hi Richard:

Since I haven't had the luxury of reading any of Fi's excerpts about your story, can you give me a quick summary, or tell me why you want your story told?

I think its interesting that you have superstitions. Can you tell me about some others, that either you or the other characters have?

If you could travel anywhere in the world - where would you go and why?

>Hi Richard:
Hi Steph,
A pleasure to meet you [bends to kiss Steph's hand and smiles charmingly]. Those are good questions you ask.

>Since I haven't had the luxury of reading any of Fi's
>excerpts about your story, can you give me a quick
>summary, or tell me why you want your story told?

Why do I want my story told? Hmmm... Maybe it's because I've always felt like an outsider, never able to fully fit in with either my Dad's or my Ma's people. Maybe that's part of what attracted me to Rose, she's a bit of an outsider too. Her father is an Englishman (ex-soldier) and her mother and Irishwoman, so she has a "foot in both camps" so to speak. She's not silly like a lot of other women (present company excepted); she's sharp-
witted and never turns down a challenge (she can play cards better than a lot of men). Also, she's gorgeous. She wouldn't say so, but don't listen to her.

However, I can't marry her without having some money behind me. My Dad's business is in trouble (one of his biggest ships sank, and the trade laws are getting more and more punitive as the English try to make sure the Irish don't get too cocky) and he's trying to expand, so he's sent me off as his representative to Montserrat in the West Indies. A bit ironic, really; I always wanted to travel, but when I get the opportunity to do so, I'm reluctant to go because I'm leaving a wonderful woman behind. But I'll return to her. Eventually.

>I think its interesting that you have superstitions.
>Can you tell me about some others, that either you or
>the other characters have?

I spent my first few years in a fishing village, and fishermen tend to be supersititious. The sea is large and fickle, and a lot of the time you're depending on God and the fates to get you a good catch and bring you back alive. For example, you never throw a stone into the sea, because that's bound to cause a storm or other trouble.

There are also a lot of superstitions regarding birth and death. If a woman is giving birth, you put a knife at the doorway to protect her and the baby. When the child is born, the midwife spits on it for luck. When someone dies, you cover all mirrors (so the soul doesn't scare itself) and open the doors (to let the soul free). A funeral often attracts people with ailments, because the touch of a dead person's hand has curing properties.

>If you could travel anywhere in the world - where
>would you go and why?

I always wanted to go to the New World. The Indies or the American colonies. It's a long way away and takes months to get there, but it's all so new and exotic. Rose loaned me a book by a traveller to Virginia, with illustrations of strange wildlife and accounts of savage Indians, and it seemed to promise so much adventure.

Although now that I'm on board a ship heading westwards, it's not quite what I expected. I'm spending far too much time with seadogs and I'm starting to curse more than is good for me. The bosun Gogarty has taken an unwarranted dislike to me. Thank God that storm has passed; I thought we'd all end up at the bottom of the ocean, where our dinners had preceded us (ship's biscuits taste almost as bad on the way back as they did on the way down). And now that other ship is unfurling a very ominous flag... I'm starting to think that you can have too much adventure in your life.

Thank you again for listening. Sincerely yours,

Richard
