Hello Todd.

I have a database that contains entries for some 1.018 Disney-designed WW II combat insignia. The Studio created over 1,100 insignia designs during the war. An entry in my database indicates the design in question was created in March 1945.

The person you mention probably came up with the design, and then forwarded the idea to the Disney Studios. Disney had a 5 man team that created the emblems. One of the artists would have created the design based on either the idea or drawing sent by the person requesting it.

I doubt the image you have is the original Disney art, as I have never seen a piece of art that originated at the Studio being that small. Is there anything written or printed on the backside of the cardstock?

Many units gave crewman copies of the art as mementoes as the men left the unit or at the war's end. Perhaps this is what you have?
