I have a 1 1/2 yr old deaf male Aussie who I adopted about 8 months ago from our local shelter. I did tons of research about deafness in dogs before adopting him. My problem is that due to some medical problems of late, he is more on edge in alot of situations. It has even come to the point that he has reacted badly to the two other dogs in our household and to two people. He seems to be playing by "different rules" and I've noticed that he displays alot of behaviors that are not considered calming signals, but for him, I believe they are. Has anyone else noticed their dog displaying different calming signals, or heard of this? I guess that I would like to hear of any behaviors that might be "deaf dog specific". Our dog trainer and I are trying to figure this out, so any advice & observations would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
