He didn't sound arrogant at all. He sounded more
relieved that he didn't have top billing. The first
name on the bill is considered the star.

The audacity of him to say "He carried the burden of the entire show of JAG was as arrogant as he is. And the reason he said it was in preparation to cover his six if CTH should fail. CTH barley got renewed as it is because it's a snoozer show, but he's layinig the ground work that it's not his fault if it gets canned because he's not the star. Let's not go mountain climbing over molehills just yet. I have read and heard more than once about the public credit DJE has given CB for keeping the show going. But let's face it--his is the character the show was originally built around, and he is the only actor who was in every episode. That makes him the headliner, and that puts a great deal of the show's weight on his shoulders. Would you rather he ducked his head and mumbled, "Aw, shucks, I didn't do much"? He didn't "carry" the show by himself....if that were the case there wouldn't of been ANY other actors....they ALL carried the show, they all contributed it just wasn't DJE. It was an arrogant comment & insulting to the rest of the JAG cast & crew. Like I said that doesn't mean DJE himself is that way, but the comment IMHO was arrogant. It makes it sound like DJE is the only who was on JAG, no one else contributed...he didn't carry the show alone, they all did. Yes it was only one statement, but it was an arrogant & insulting one.
Like I've asked before, if CB had made such an arrogant statement you bet she'd be called on the carpet for it...and probably would be crucified unmercifully.....and it would be just because that kind of remark is insulting to those affiliated with JAG, it would be discountined DJE, like I believe he's done with CB (and the rest)....The comment was not one of DJE's "finer" moments, and it should be alright to criticize him for making such an inane comment, just like I'm sure people would criticize CB or anyone else if they made the exact same comment.
It was a poor choice of words....I think we all at times say things that don't come out right, and I'm hoping that's what happened here...

Hi, Jennifer. I haven't heard the interview yet--I missed it, and I hope someone posts it--so I have to go on what I read. Certainly CB would be criticized for a comment like that, but she wasn't the character the show was originally built around. I would think that would be a huge burden, even if others share some the responsibility. That's all I'm saying...to say that he "carried" it alone is ludicrous, to me its like he's saying "I'm the only one who mattered, it was because of ME only the show was a success..." and it wasn't. I'm not arguing the original premise of the show, & if the show had when CBS picked up went with ONLY one lead & no recurring characters kinda like the Fugitive then I'd agree with the statement. TPTB said DJE & CB were tied as most popular) & they all were a factor. That's all...it was a poor statement, & statements like this don't reflect IMHO very well on DJE...just like the wouldn't on CB if she had uttered the same thing. It was bad timing LOL!
Like I said, we all say things at times that we are like "did I just say that??" LOL! This may be one of those things, at least I hope. I don't think DJE would purposely discredit the contributions of the others, because it was all of their burderns to carry, they all made contributions, and its because of them ALL JAG was on the air for 9 seasons after initially being cancelled....JMVHO....
